Major Playoffs, Even larger Payoffs at Xbox Madden 10

You may need a crash course in football video game history, if hearing about all the innovations and improvements that Xbox Madden 10 offers still hasn't moved you. Sure, there's something not right about saying a current game is great merely because it blows away its ancestors. But it helps to see how much progress has been made in football video games, by taking a glance at the earliest video games and comparing them to Xbox Madden 10. Certainly, there was a huge, untapped market for football video games, when the first generation of console games made their debut. But the catch was, the power of the early video game consoles didn't exactly equal the imaginations and desires of those early hardcore gamers, so everyone had to settle for less. If you've ever seen old ads for this one, the creators truly believed that it had "all the excitement" of the real deal.

The players themselves have closer resemblance to space aliens than members of a football team. Rough, but true. And if the picture has you cringing, you can only imagine what the gameplay is like. From a technological standpoint, things were so basic, that multiple players moving at once meant that the only thing extreme about this game was the flickering of the players. Audio was as awful as the video. Again, things like the scrolling screen wouldn't be a required part of any game for a while yet. However, another participant in video game consoles entered the fray, and their football video game scored a touchdown. A serious effort was made with this next one, in order to give gamers a football video game closer to the real thing. It wasn't there yet, though. While it did tantalize the video game world with its improvements, it was still only a slight move in the right direction. Gamers would have to wait a while on the bench before that came true. The next level in football video games had been reached, and still we're seeing a following for this one. If you were to ask a gamer from the 90s what their favorite sports video game was, this one would crack the top 5 list. Can't argue with the fact that the hardcore gamers did take to this one - for the first time, the NFL got the red-carpet treatment from a football video game. With the improvements in both the sound and the graphics, gamers saw this as the first and last word in video football games. Today, there's even a new incarnation of the game, and with that is a renewed reverence for it. While worthy of praise, it still trails in the distance from Xbox Madden 10. It's always great to see how far we, and football video games, have come. Guess it's a waste of time to do too much putting down of the other, less sophisticated football video games. No need to keep harping on it. You have to start somewhere, and those other games did - and Xbox Madden 10 would have never been possible if it weren't for those older football video games. Xbox Madden 10 is the future of football video games, and the video game community is psyched that the future is looking so bright. The reviewers have spoken, and they're as stoked as the gamers, which is always a cause for celebration. "Realistic and enjoyable" are comments you'll see during most Xbox Madden 10 reviews. Xbox Madden 10 is another monster hit for EA Sports, though we think you could predict that one. Don't let the naysayers shape your opinion - Xbox Madden 10 is a game for the ages. Not to put down any other Xbox sports video games, which have certainly earned their solid rep, but Xbox Madden 10 is just the best of the best. With Xbox Madden 10, the debate over the best football video game can be laid to rest. Better still, the true gamers know that this is the arena which will separate the wheat from the chaff, after you play video games for money. Now, Xbox Madden 10 fanatics can throw down the gauntlet and play video games for money. When you've conquered the Xbox Madden 10 playing field, you'll be conquering your rivals - and snagging their cash.
